A firm favourite of patrons in its previous stint, the all new ‘Oregano’, the upscale Italian Speciality Restaurant & Bar at JW Marriott Chandigarh, makes a comeback with an entirely new menu and a new Italian Expat Chef at the helm to serve a delightful experience.

Oregano was renowned for redefining the meaning of Italian fine-dining in the region, thus leaving an everlasting impression on the region’s culinary landscape. In its new incarnation, it offers an all-new menu embodying the same gastronomic grandeur in a warm, comforting and plush set-up. Oregano at JW Marriott Chandigarh offers a delectable fare blending the delicate flavours of ingredients that are both procured locally and imported from Italy. Chef Avigo, the expat Italian Chef, welcomes you to the open interactive kitchen where he crafts flavours as per diners’ tastes and preferences.

An expert in Italian cuisine, Chef Jacopo Avigo, who hails from the Pianura Padana region of Lombardy in Italy, has had a very interesting journey in the world of flavours, something which reflects in his preparations. From cooking at home for his family at the tender age of 8, working at a restaurant as a 15-year-old to leaving home at the age of 18 in search of enriching experiences, Chef Avigo has worked at many places across Italy, besides Germany, Spain, England and India. This vast exposure to different cultures has helped define his culinary approach, on the basis of which he designed the menu of Oregano offering both Traditional and Modern Italian Cuisine. “The menu of Oregano serves many a delectable Italian delights such as Tortello Aglio Olio (pasta), Porcino (Risotti), Panzerella (Salad), Minestra Sporca (Soup), Formaggiosa (Pizza) and much more, which transport you to the serene landscape of Italy as you dine your way to heavenly contentment,” shares Chef Avigo.

The Oberoi Sukhvilas

Chandigarh, designed by the Swiss architect Le Corbusier, is India’s first planned city and boasts sprawling parks, landscaped gardens, a lake, an excellent golf course and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The city is dotted with Corbusier’s  signature “Open Hand” sculptures; highly emotive symbols of peace and reconciliation he built in response to the partition of India in 1947.

Against a backdrop of the 8,000 acres of Siswan Forest Range and the foothills of the Himalayas, The Oberoi Sukhvilas Spa Resort presents a landscape of beautiful gardens with fountains, reflection pools and traditional architecture. The perfect environs for you to switch off, relax and take some time out.

I stayed over at this place for two days an had a wonderful experience . The room are at different locations away from each other which makes it even more peaceful to stay . Every room has a beautiful view .

The place is comfortable yet very sophisticated .

The food at Anant mahal is excellent . They have a special menu curated for all taste buds from Indian to chinese , Italian , continental etc .

How to get to Sukhvilas- The place is located at the outskirts of the city so taking a cab/taxi or a personal vehicle would be the best option. They don’t have a bus or train service going directly to the place .

Staff/service- The staff is well dressed and educated and extremely generous .

Overall it is a great place to spend time away from all the noise of the city .

Dessert lovers

The first thing you will notice as you walk into CBC is an attractive pastry display that is nothing less than a piece of art.

The new menu of CBC offers multi-layered pastries which have unique textures and flavours in every layer, independent yet complementary to the preceding and succeeding layer. Take the Chocolate Cappuccino Delight, for instance, which has a Dark chocolate sponge filled with chocolate, coffee and coconut mouse and Chocolate mud frosting on the top. Yet another of Chef Samim’s favourite is Caramel Hazelnut Entremets having multiple layers of flavours coming smoothly together as the Caramel Sponge base, with Hazelnut nougat filling and Mascarpone frosting on top offer a truly heavenly experience.

With authentic breads gaining popularity with the city denizens, CBC has introduced entirely new varieties like the Sour Dough bread, Tiger-skin bread, Brioche and Ciabatta.

A must try from the new menu are the all-day breakfast options and on-the-go menu featuring the all-time favourite sandwiches, toasts and egg preparations including the Mediterranean sandwich for its fresh flavours of peppers and zucchini and the Thyme Roast Chicken sandwich for the juicy hand-pulled Chicken. Pair them with the warm winter beverages including the Gur ki Chai, Hot Toddy or the Mock Mulled Wine for the best experience of Chandigarh winters at CBC.
